Some vibration during spin is normal, but a machine that walks across the floor or bangs violently has a fixable cause. Start with the simplest checks.
Common causes of excessive vibration
- Transit (shipping) bolts left in — on a newly installed machine, the rear transit bolts must be removed or it will shake violently.
- Unlevel or soft floor — the machine rocks if the feet aren’t adjusted or the floor is uneven.
- Unbalanced load — heavy single items or tangled clothes throw off the spin.
- Worn shock absorbers or suspension springs — the drum is no longer dampened.
- Worn drum bearings — can cause both noise and vibration.
What you can safely check yourself
- Check for transit bolts if the machine is newly installed — they sit at the back and must be removed (keep them for future moves).
- Level the machine — adjust the feet until it doesn’t rock; use a spirit level if you have one, then tighten the lock-nuts.
- Balance the load — spread clothes evenly and avoid spinning one heavy item alone.
- Make sure it sits on a firm, flat surface — not on a flexing wooden platform.

When to call a technician
If the machine is level, the load is balanced, and there are no transit bolts but it still shakes hard, the shock absorbers, suspension springs, or bearings are likely worn. These dampening parts need professional replacement.
We replace shock absorbers, springs and bearings on Samsung, LG, IFB, Bosch and Whirlpool machines across Bangalore.
